I pray to you
The white god of theirs
to thank you
Thank you for sending your people to me
I did not know how to rape the land
As well as they, with their agriculture
Thank you for sending your people to me
to take my children and grandchildren
away to boarding schools so far away
and beat them
and rape them
and treat them as cattle
For I did not know how to care for them
in what you deem in their ‘best interests’
I pray to you the white god of theirs
to thank you
For our winters were not near as harsh
as the treatment from your people
and we learned to be stronger
Our children were not near as smart
and educated
as they became in spite of you
I pray to you
the white god of theirs
that the gate they preached so heavily
to us will still be open to receive them
for your word is what they live by
Your word alone
They prayed for us
after they beat us
they prayed for us
after they raped us
they prayed for us
after they killed us
they prayed for us
after they stole from us
And now I pray for you
that there is some way to save you
God, who’s image they live in
